Five Women Arrested Over Suspected Terrorist Logistics Support

Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested five female suspects believed to be involved in supplying logistics to terrorist elements in Borno State.

The arrests were carried out at about 6:48 p.m. on August 17, 2026, at Ngurusoye village by troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion deployed to the area.

According to security sources, the operation followed intelligence reports tracking the activities of individuals suspected of supporting terrorist networks operating within the region.

The suspects were identified as Falmata Jibrin, 53; Hajja Zaragon, 50; Falmata Ali, 50; Inagana Modu, 30; and Falmata Abubakar, 13.

During the operation, troops reportedly recovered a quantity of food and household provisions from the suspects. The items included 65 packs of sweet candies, 117 packs of biscuits and 167 sachets of Dangote salt, alongside other assorted provisions.

The Nigerian Army said the suspects and the recovered items have since been handed over to the 21 Special Anti-Banditry Mobile Police Regiment (21 SAB MOPOL) for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrests are part of sustained intelligence-led operations under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V, aimed at dismantling terrorist support structures and disrupting the supply chains that enable insurgent groups to operate.

Security operations in the North-East have increasingly focused not only on direct combat operations but also on identifying and disrupting logistics networks that provide food, supplies and other materials to terrorist elements.

By targeting such support networks, the military seeks to restrict the ability of insurgents to sustain their operations and strengthen its wider counter-terrorism campaign across the theatre.

Global Mirror News gathered that the overall security situation in the operational theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance, operational readiness and intelligence-driven surveillance.

The latest arrests further underscore the continued efforts by Nigerian security forces and local security partners to cut off terrorist groups from the resources required to sustain their activities.
