Tinubu Names Abiodun to Lead APC 2027 Campaign Fundraising as Party Unveils Campaign Council

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as Director of Fundraising for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment places Abiodun at the centre of the party’s financial mobilisation strategy as the APC begins preparations for what is expected to be a fiercely contested presidential election.
The Presidency announced the composition of the campaign council on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with President Tinubu designated as Chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, is also listed as Vice Chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, will serve as Director-General.
Governor Abiodun’s assignment will involve coordinating efforts to mobilise financial resources and campaign support for the APC presidential bid as the party moves towards the 2027 elections.
The Ogun governor’s appointment is particularly significant given the strategic importance of fundraising to large-scale political campaigns, which require substantial resources for nationwide mobilisation, logistics, communications and election-related coordination.
APC Unveils Senior Leadership Structure
The campaign council has Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary, while APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, will serve as Deputy Secretary. Hadiza Bala-Usman was appointed Assistant Secretary.
The Council’s Advisory team includes former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; Veteran Journalist and Politician, Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Directors-General for the South and North, alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while the President’s Chief of Staff will supervise administration in the same capacity.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors responsible for the six geopolitical zones. They include Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors within the directorate.
Segun Dada, who previously served in the New Media structure during the 2022 campaign, has been appointed Director of New Media, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of New Media.
The Council also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu Charges Campaign Council to Deliver Victory
President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
He also directed the heads of the various directorates to engage other party members who may not have been formally included in the council, urging them to contribute to the overall campaign effort.
According to the President, the APC-led Federal Government has fulfilled its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress.
He consequently urged members of the council to communicate the administration’s achievements effectively, counter negative narratives and build greater confidence among Nigerians ahead of the 2027 polls.
The composition of the council signals that the APC is moving into a more structured phase of its preparations for the next general elections, with political mobilisation, fundraising, election planning and strategic communication assigned to experienced party figures.
Global Mirror News gathered that the announcement comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with the ruling party positioning its leadership structure for a nationwide campaign.
The statement announcing the appointments was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on August 22, 2026.
