The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing key political figures to strategic positions as the party intensifies preparations for the electoral contest.

The campaign council is to be led by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, while Senator Lekan Mustapha has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council.

In a major communications appointment, Otunba Dare Odufowokan has been named Chairman of the Public Communications Committee, placing him at the centre of the party’s media, messaging and public engagement strategy ahead of the election.

The development comes amid increasing political activities across Ogun State as political parties begin to consolidate their structures, mobilise supporters and communicate their programmes and positions to voters ahead of 2027.

Odufowokan’s appointment has already received commendation from the APC Support Groups Council in Ogun State, which described him as a suitable choice for the public communications responsibility.

The Council said his experience in public communication, knowledge of the Ogun political environment and ability to effectively articulate issues would be valuable to the campaign organisation.

‘He’s the best for the job’

The APC Support Groups Council said the appointment was timely, noting that the campaign would require a strong communicator capable of presenting the party’s position clearly and responding effectively to emerging political narratives.

According to the council, Odufowokan’s experience and understanding of communication would give the APC campaign an advantage as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group maintained that the Public Communications Committee would play an important role in projecting the party’s message and ensuring that information from the campaign organisation reaches the electorate in a clear and coordinated manner.

Global Mirror News reports that the Public Communications Committee is expected to serve as a major link between the campaign organisation and the media, providing information on campaign activities, explaining policy issues and highlighting the achievements and programmes of the APC-led administration.

The committee is also expected to coordinate the campaign’s response to criticisms, allegations and competing political narratives that may emerge during the electioneering period.

Strategic campaign structure

The emergence of the campaign council represents a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.

With Governor Abiodun and Senator Yayi providing leadership at the top of the campaign structure, and Senator Lekan Mustapha responsible for its coordination as Director-General, the council brings together prominent party leaders, political actors and stakeholders.

The appointment of Odufowokan further underscores the importance attached to strategic communication in the emerging campaign structure.

Political observers have increasingly identified effective communication as a critical component of modern election campaigns, particularly with the growing influence of digital platforms and social media in shaping public opinion.

Campaign messages can now reach thousands of voters within minutes, making effective coordination and rapid response increasingly important for political organisations.

Odufowokan’s communications responsibility

As Chairman of the Public Communications Committee, Odufowokan is expected to coordinate the campaign’s messaging architecture and help ensure that the APC communicates with a coherent and consistent voice throughout the electioneering period.

His responsibilities are expected to cover media engagement, public information, campaign messaging, strategic communication and coordination with other communication-related structures within the party and campaign organisation.

The position also places him in a strategic role in presenting the APC’s case to voters while responding to narratives which the party considers inaccurate, misleading or politically motivated.

Global Mirror News gathered that the communications committee will also be expected to strengthen engagement between the campaign organisation, journalists, media organisations, party supporters and the wider electorate.

Campaign machinery takes shape

The unveiling of the campaign council marks another significant stage in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections in Ogun State.

The party is expected to activate its structures across the state’s three senatorial districts, nine federal constituencies and 20 local government areas as campaign activities intensify.

For the APC Support Groups Council, the appointment of Odufowokan represents an important component of the emerging campaign structure.

The council expressed confidence that effective messaging, strategic coordination and a strong grassroots network would strengthen the party’s ability to communicate its agenda and mobilise support across Ogun State.

As political activities continue to build towards the 2027 general elections, attention is expected to shift to the full activation of the campaign council and the strategies it will deploy to consolidate the APC’s political standing across the state.
