FortressNews Editor, Yusuf Adeleke, Emerges Ogun NUJ Federated Chapel Treasurer
Comrade Yusuf Adeleke, Editor and Ogun State Correspondent of FortressNews International, has emerged Treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federated Chapel, Ogun State Council.
Adeleke emerged unopposed during the chapel’s election held on Friday at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, in an exercise described by members as transparent, peaceful and credible.
His emergence followed his nomination and subsequent return as the sole candidate for the treasurer position, bringing his growing involvement in professional journalism and organisational leadership to bear on the administration of the chapel.
Adeleke assured members that their expectation from him would be met, adding that treasurer is expected to play a key role in the financial administration of the chapel, with members looking forward to greater transparency, accountability and prudent management of the chapel’s resources.
Adeleke’s election also adds to a growing list of leadership responsibilities he has undertaken across professional, media and alumni organisations.
He recently received an appointment as Special Assitant on New Media to the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State, Comrade Abdulah Babatunde Lawal, a role that further recognises his experience in journalism, digital communication and media management.
Adeleke began his journalism journey as a campus journalist and subsequently rose through the ranks of student media leadership.
He served as Vice-President of the Press Club, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), during the 2019/2020 academic session.
His campus journalism experience later paved the way for broader involvement in student media administration, culminating in his election as National President of the Nigerian Association of Campus Editors (NANCE).
Beyond journalism, Adeleke has also demonstrated leadership in alumni and community-based organisations. He is currently the National Secretary of the Ilugun High School Alumni Association and serves as President of the Ilugun High School 2009 Set.
His trajectory from campus journalism to professional media practice and leadership positions, according to colleagues and associates, reflects a commitment to communication, organisational development and service.
Adeleke’s emergence as Treasurer of the NUJ Federated Chapel therefore marks another milestone in his journalism career, coming at a time when professional associations are increasingly demanding accountability, innovation and responsible leadership.
The new treasurer is expected to work with the chapel’s executive and members to strengthen its financial processes, promote members’ welfare and contribute to the overall growth and development of the Federated Chapel.
Adeleke emergence further underscores the confidence reposed in him by members of the chapel and his record of participation in journalism and organisational leadership over the years.
