Tragedy Strikes Former Commissioner as Wife, Three Children Die in Road Crash

Tragedy has struck the family of a former Niger State Commissioner for Education, Abubakar Daja, following the death of his wife, Hajia Daja, and three of their children in a fatal road crash.
The devastating accident reportedly occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, along the Mokwa-Bida Road in Niger State, when the Mazda vehicle conveying the family members from Minna was involved in a collision with a Sienna vehicle.
According to reports gathered by Global Mirror News, Hajia Daja and her children were travelling along the busy highway when the two vehicles collided, resulting in multiple casualties.
The crash claimed the lives of Hajia Daja and three of her four children, leaving the family and their Community in deep mourning.
The only surviving child, a teenage daughter, reportedly sustained serious injuries in the accident. She was said to have suffered severe trauma, including a broken rib and a fractured shoulder, and was subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear as of the time of filing this report, while further details about the condition of those involved in the Sienna vehicle were also unavailable.
The death of the mother and three children has reportedly sent shock waves through the family, with sympathisers and well-wishers mourning the devastating loss.
The remains of the deceased were later taken to Kutigi, headquarters of Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State, where they were buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The tragedy has once again drawn attention to the dangers associated with major highways, particularly roads where heavy traffic, speeding, overtaking and other factors can contribute to fatal collisions.
For the Daja family, however, the incident represents an immeasurable personal loss, as the former Commissioner is now left to mourn his wife and three children while their surviving daughter continues to receive medical care.
Global Mirror News extends its condolences to the Daja family and prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, while wishing the surviving daughter a speedy and complete recovery.
