JAMB Introduces New O’Level Result Innovation, Allows Candidates to Upload From Home

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new digital innovation that will allow candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes, reducing the need to visit Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the exercise.
The development, which is part of the Board’s ongoing digital transformation agenda under its new Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, is expected to make the process of submitting and verifying WAEC results faster, easier and more convenient for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Global Mirror News gathered that the new arrangement currently begins with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), with other examination bodies expected to be integrated into the system subsequently.
Under the new process, candidates can initiate verification remotely and upload their results through JAMB’s e-Facility platform after obtaining the required verification code. Reports indicate that candidates can use the designated result-verification platform and SMS channels to begin the process.
The innovation is particularly significant because the upload and verification of O’Level results remain an important requirement for admission processing. JAMB’s official guidelines state that candidates awaiting results are expected to upload them to the Board’s portal once the results become available, and institutions’ admission recommendations will not be considered for candidates whose required results have not been uploaded.
What candidates need to know
Candidates should ensure that the information contained in their O’Level results is accurate before completing the upload process. JAMB’s registration guidelines require candidates to provide their correct O’Level results and ensure that key personal information, including their name, date of birth, gender, state of origin and local government area, corresponds with the information on their National Identification Number (NIN).
The new system is expected to reduce congestion at CBT centres, particularly during periods when thousands of candidates are attempting to update their admission profiles at the same time.
It could also reduce the inconvenience associated with travelling to CBT centres simply to upload an examination result, especially for candidates who have already completed their UTME registration and are waiting for their WAEC or other examination results.
Two sittings and result selection
Candidates with more than one O’Level result will also need to pay attention to the subjects they select during the verification and upload process.
Reports on the new system indicate that candidates with two sittings can select the relevant subjects from the available results after completing the verification process. Where an error is made during subject selection, the verification code can reportedly be re-entered to allow the candidate to make the necessary correction.
This is important because incorrect selection or incomplete uploading of required subjects could affect a candidate’s admission processing.
JAMB’s existing admission framework already places significant emphasis on the proper submission and verification of O’Level qualifications. Its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) was designed to automate the admission process, while requiring candidates awaiting O’Level results to upload those results before they can be considered for admission.
JAMB’s wider digital transformation
The latest development is coming at a time when JAMB is expanding the use of technology across its examination and admission processes.
The Board’s official website currently identifies Prof. Segun Aina as its sixth Registrar and describes him as an expert in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, examination technology and public-sector innovation.
The Board has also continued to automate various aspects of its operations. Earlier in 2026, JAMB announced the completion of the automation of its test-item development process through the Remote Authoring and Moderation System (RAMS), replacing the previous manual approach to examination-item development.
The home-based O’Level verification initiative therefore represents another step towards reducing physical interaction with JAMB service points while giving candidates greater control over their admission-related transactions.
Candidates urged to be careful
Despite the convenience of the new arrangement, candidates are advised to protect their JAMB profile details, verification codes and other personal information.
JAMB has repeatedly warned candidates against handing over sensitive information to unauthorised individuals. Its official FAQ advises candidates to keep their registration details, passwords, e-PINs and other security information confidential.
Candidates should also rely on official JAMB channels when making payments or uploading results and should be cautious of individuals or online platforms promising to manipulate results, secure admission or bypass JAMB procedures.
For the 2026/2027 admission cycle, JAMB’s CAPS dashboard shows that more than 2.2 million UTME and Direct Entry candidates are currently captured in the admission process, underscoring the scale of the Board’s operations and the potential impact of digital reforms that reduce pressure on physical service centres.
The Board’s 2026 admission policy has set the minimum tolerable score at 150 for universities and Colleges of Nursing, while polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education, colleges of agriculture and Innovation Enterprise Institutions have a minimum of 100. The minimum admission age remains 16.
With the latest O’Level result innovation, candidates are expected to have a more convenient route for completing one of the key requirements for admission consideration, while JAMB continues its transition towards a more technology-driven admission system.
