2027: Ogun APC Unveils Campaign Council, Abiodun, Yayi Lead as Mustapha Emerges DG
Adejare Heads Secretariat, Odufowokan Chairs Public Communication
The Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing together political leaders, former Governors, former office holders and other party stakeholders to drive the party’s campaign across the State.
The campaign structure places Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as Chairman of the campaign council, while Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, serves as Co-Chairman.
The council also brings together former Governors and senior political figures, reflecting an effort to provide the campaign with a broad leadership base across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts.
Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, is listed as Grand Patron, while former Governors, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun are named Deputy Grand Patrons.
Former Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola is listed as Assistant Grand Patron.
The council further lists Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as Deputy Chairmen, with Chief Yemi Sanusi serving as Vice Chairman.
Chief Bode Mustapha, Chief Derin Adebiyi and Dr Sikirulahi Ogundele are listed as Assistant Chairmen.
Mustapha takes charge as DG
Senator Lekan Mustapha has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, placing him at the centre of the day-to-day coordination and execution of the APC’s campaign activities.
The former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Babatunde Adejare, emerged as the Council Secretary and is to head the secretariat of the entire campaign.
His expertise in human and resources management is expected to support effective coordination of the council’s activities and ensure hitch-free implementation of its programmes.
The structure also creates zonal leadership positions for Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West.
Governor Abiodun is listed as Deputy Director-General for Ogun East, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salis as Deputy Director-General for Ogun Central, while Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele is assigned as Deputy Director-General for Ogun West.
The arrangement is complemented by Vice Directors-General, Assistant Directors-General, Directors and Deputy Directors assigned across the three Senatorial districts.
The highly decentralised structure is designed to take the party’s campaign operations down to the grassroots and ensure that the three senatorial districts have dedicated leadership and coordination.
The council also provides for state constituency coordinators, alongside their deputies and assistants, creating layers of coordination intended to cover constituencies across Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West.
Odufowokan Heads Public Communication
In another significant appointment, Hon. Dare Odufowokan has been named Chairman of the Public Communication Committee, the body responsible for coordinating the campaign’s public communication structure.
Odufowokan will work with Ifekayode Akinbode and Femi Dokunmu, who are listed as Vice Chairmen of the committee.
The wider media and publicity architecture is headed by Kayode Odunaro as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, with Hon. Kayode Akinmade and SF Emmanuel Ojo as Vice Chairmen.
The distinction between the Media and Publicity Committee and the Public Communication Committee suggests separate responsibilities for broader media and publicity coordination and campaign-facing public communication.

Broad committees unveiled
Beyond the central leadership, the campaign council features committees covering virtually every major area of electioneering, mobilisation and campaign administration.
The committees include Finance and Budget, Media and Publicity, Security, Strategy, Women Affairs, Mobilization, Special Duties, Transportation, Reconciliation, Inter-Ethnic Affairs, Fundraising, Advance, Protocol and Events, Welfare, Planning, Youth Engagement, Youth Mobilization, Student Engagement, Digital Innovation, Medical, Traditional Institution/Religious Affairs and Independent Campaign Group.
Among the appointees, former police officer, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd.), heads the Security Committee, while Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun chairs the Strategy Committee.
The Women Affairs (Mobilization) Committee is headed by Mrs Aminat Adigun, while Hon. Babatunde Olaotan heads the Mobilization Committee.
Hon. Yemi Adelani chairs Special Duties, Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo heads Transportation, while Senator Gbenga Obadara chairs Reconciliation.
Other key assignments include Sheu Usman as Chairman of the Inter-Ethnic Committee, Adebola Sofela as Chairman of Fundraising, Hon. Micky Kazeem as Chairman of Advance, Protocol and Events, and former deputy Governor Yetunde Onanuga as Chairman of Welfare.
The youth and digital components also receive dedicated attention.
Olamide Lawal heads Youth Engagement, Aremu Babatunde heads Youth Mobilization, Rasheed Aroboto heads Student Engagement, while Hon. Femi Allen heads Digital Innovation.
Dr. Tomi Coker chairs the Medical Committee.
Grassroots structure
The extensive list of constituency coordinators, deputies and assistants points to an emphasis on grassroots organisation as the Ogun APC prepares for the 2027 electoral contest.
The structure divides responsibilities according to Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West, with multiple coordinators assigned to constituencies and additional layers of deputies and assistants.
This is complemented by specialised committees focusing on mobilisation, transportation, women, youth, students, communication and digital engagement, areas considered central to modern election campaigns.
