Ogun Police Nab 20-Year-Old Over Alleged Gang Rape, Search Intensifies for Fleeing Suspects

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old woman in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
Global Mirror News gathered that the incident allegedly occurred on Saturday, August 30, 2026, at a residence in the Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Police on Tuesday, September 1, at about 10:10am, after the survivor’s mother reported the incident at the Ijebu-Igbo Police Division.
Following the complaint, police operatives reportedly visited the location where the incident allegedly took place and secured the scene as part of efforts to preserve evidence that could assist the investigation.
The Police also accompanied the survivor to the General Hospital for medical examination and treatment, using a Police Medical Form as part of the standard investigative process.
During preliminary investigations, detectives reportedly traced and arrested one of the suspects identified in connection with the alleged offence. He was identified by the police as 20-year-old Ayomide Kamula.
Kamula is currently being detained at the Ijebu-Igbo Police Division, where investigators are questioning him as inquiries continue.
The Ogun State Police Command said it has also commenced an intelligence-led manhunt for other suspects allegedly connected to the incident.
One of those being sought is identified as Boye Balogun, who is currently at large. Police operatives are said to be intensifying efforts to establish the whereabouts of the fleeing suspect and apprehend him.
The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, confirmed the development to Journalists, stating that the case file would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police assured that the investigation would be conducted with a view to establishing the facts of the case and ensuring that anyone found culpable faces the appropriate legal consequences.
The Command also appealed to members of the public who may have useful information about the whereabouts of the suspect still at large to contact the police or the nearest security formation.
