Ogogo’s Family Debunks Viral Claim That Late Actor’s Daughter Has Welcomed Baby Boy
The family of late veteran Nollywood Actor and screenwriter, Taiwo “Ogogo” Hassan, has dismissed a viral report claiming that his daughter, Shakirat “Kira” Taiwo, has given birth to a baby boy.
The report, which circulated widely on social media alongside a short video, alleged that Kira had recently welcomed a son, with the newborn reportedly described as “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy.”
However, the family has categorically described the claim as false and urged members of the public to disregard the information.
Haleemah “Lima” Taiwo, another daughter of the late actor, issued the clarification on Wednesday through a statement posted on her Instagram page.
In the statement, she wrote: “DISCLAIMER. Please disregard the information currently circulating that my sister has given birth. This is not true.”
She explained that the family had been inundated with calls and messages from concerned relatives, friends and members of the public seeking confirmation of the report, prompting the family to publicly address the matter.
“We have been receiving several calls and messages from friends and family asking about it, so we felt the need to clarify publicly,” she said.
Lima further appealed to the public to exercise restraint and avoid sharing unverified information about the family, particularly at a time when they are still grieving the death of their patriarch.
“At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading or sharing unverified information about our family,” she added.
She also thanked those who had continued to offer prayers and support to the family while appealing for privacy as they come to terms with their loss.
“Thank you for your understanding, prayers and for our privacy at this difficult time,” she said.
The disputed video reportedly gained attention because it appeared to suggest that the birth occurred only days after Ogogo’s burial, further fuelling speculation among social media users.
The family’s clarification, however, makes it clear that there is no truth to the claim that Kira Taiwo has welcomed a baby.
Ogogo, one of the respected figures in Yoruba-language cinema, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after reportedly battling stage-four cancer.
His death triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry, many of whom described him as an influential figure whose career contributed significantly to the growth of Yoruba theatre and film.
The acytor was laid to rest the following day, Monday, August 24, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
As the family continues to mourn, it has urged the public and social media users to respect its privacy and rely on verified information rather than unconfirmed reports concerning the late actor’s children and relatives.
