2027: Zee 1 for YAYI Unveils 400 Canvassers for Ogun Grassroots Battle

The race for the 2027 Ogun State Governorship election is gathering momentum as Zee 1 for YAYI, a political support group backing the ambition of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has inaugurated 400 canvassers for a statewide grassroots mobilisation drive.

The newly inaugurated canvassers are expected to take the YAYI campaign directly to voters through door-to-door engagement, community sensitisation and mobilisation across Ogun State, with particular attention to rural communities.

The group said the move was aimed at building stronger grassroots support for YAYI and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that political victory would depend largely on sustained engagement with voters at the community level.

Speaking at the inauguration in Abeokuta on Sunday, the founder of Zee 1 for YAYI, Ambassador Ayomikun Azeez Ibrahim, charged the 400 canvassers to take the mobilisation exercise seriously and ensure that the APC message reached residents across the state.

Ibrahim said the 2027 election would require more than political gatherings, rallies and public declarations of support, urging members of the group to engage directly with voters.

He said, “The election coming up in 2027, everywhere you see APC, from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator YAYI and all other APC candidates, we must come together and give our full support.”

According to him, residents of Ogun State had continued to witness the contributions and activities of Senator YAYI even before he secured the APC Governorship ticket.

He therefore urged members of the support group to take the message directly to the people through door-to-door canvassing, particularly in rural communities.

“We have been seeing what Senator YAYI has been doing even before he was given the party ticket. Let us come together and give our full support for YAYI by canvassing from door to door about YAYI and other APC candidates. We must also take the message to rural communities,” he said.

Global Mirror News gathered that the group’s latest mobilisation strategy is centred on direct voter engagement, with the 400 canvassers expected to interact with residents, explain the group’s political position and encourage eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process.

Ibrahim also urged APC supporters to ensure that eligible voters who were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) did so ahead of the election.

He stressed that political support could only translate into victory at the polls when eligible voters participate in the voting process.

He said, “It is not by singing alone. We can only make use of our PVC to cast our vote. So, let us ensure that those who have not collected their PVCs do so.”

He further charged the newly inaugurated canvassers to sensitise residents in their respective communities on the importance of participating actively in the electoral process.

Also speaking, the former LCDA Chairman, Oba, and Senior Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Asaluola Abiola, called on members of Zee 1 for YAYI to work collectively towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

Abiola urged coordinators across the various local governments to ensure effective coordination and inclusiveness, stressing that all members must be carried along in the mobilisation exercise.

“I want to urge all the coordinators in each Local Government to make sure they carry their members along. We all have to work to ensure APC victory ahead of the 2027 elections. Our collective effort at the grassroots is very important,” Abiola said.

Global Mirror News reports that the inauguration of the 400 canvassers marks a significant step in Zee 1 for YAYI’s grassroots mobilisation programme as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group’s strategy is expected to move the campaign beyond conventional political meetings and rallies by placing greater emphasis on direct contact with voters in their homes and communities.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman and Consultant of the Commercial Motorcycle Riders Identification Scheme (COMORIS), Engineer Juwon Adebanjo, emphasised the importance of PVC collection and continuous voter sensitisation.

Adebanjo said the group would continue to educate its members and supporters on the need to obtain their voter cards and participate in the election.

“What is most important is our PVCs. We will continue to sensitise ourselves and encourage eligible voters to ensure they collect their PVCs so that they can exercise their civic responsibility,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr Owolabi Otubu, a member of Zee 1 for YAYI from Odogbolu, pledged his support for the grassroots mobilisation drive.

Otubu said the canvassers would take the campaign message into communities and engage residents on the need to support YAYI and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Similarly, one of the women leaders in Abeokuta North, Mrs Kehinde Kazeem, urged women and other grassroots stakeholders to take an active role in the mobilisation exercise.

Kazeem stressed the importance of women taking the campaign message to their families, communities and various social networks, noting that their participation would strengthen the grassroots mobilisation effort.

Global Mirror News reports that the emphasis on women’s participation highlights the importance of family and community networks in political mobilisation as the 2027 election approaches.

A leader in the Zee 1 for YAYI support group, Mr Ayo Popoola, also encouraged the newly inaugurated canvassers to remain committed to the assignment.

Popoola urged them to ensure that their activities went beyond political meetings and public gatherings by maintaining direct engagement with voters at the grassroots.

With 400 canvassers now inaugurated, Zee 1 for YAYI is set to intensify its door-to-door campaign and voter sensitisation activities across Ogun State as the political contest ahead of the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.
