2027: Hundreds of Youths Rally Behind Tinubu, Abiodun, Yayi in Massive Ogun Solidarity Trek
Hundreds of youths and students under the umbrella of the Youth and Students Wings of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) on Wednesday flooded major streets of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in a peaceful solidarity trek to reaffirm their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The colourful procession, which drew a large turnout of party supporters, youth groups, students and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commenced from the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, before moving through strategic roads within the state capital. Participants displayed banners, placards and party insignia while chanting solidarity songs in support of the APC leadership at the national and state levels.
The rally also served as a public endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s reported senatorial ambition after the completion of his tenure as governor, as well as Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s aspiration to fly the APC flag in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
Addressing participants during the event, the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, described the solidarity trek as a strategic mobilisation initiative designed to encourage greater youth participation in politics while strengthening support for the APC and its leaders.
According to him, the movement remains committed to the leadership of President Tinubu, Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola, whom he credited with implementing policies and programmes that have positively impacted many Nigerians, particularly young people in Ogun State.
Akintunde praised Senator Adeola’s record of youth empowerment, constituency development and infrastructure projects, saying the lawmaker’s interventions across Ogun West and other parts of the state had continued to attract widespread support.
“Our gathering today is to demonstrate our loyalty and appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi). We believe in their leadership and we are convinced that Senator Adeola has earned the confidence of many people through his commitment to development, empowerment and quality representation,” he said.
He further noted that President Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms, despite the challenges associated with the transition period, were aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy for long-term growth, while Senator Adeola’s extensive empowerment programmes and developmental initiatives had continued to inspire many youths across Ogun State.
Also speaking, the Co-Convener of the movement, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, reaffirmed the group’s dedication to promoting the ideals and programmes of the All Progressives Congress, describing Senator Adeola as the preferred governorship standard-bearer of the movement ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Odeneye called on residents of Ogun State, particularly young people, to remain actively involved in democratic processes and continue supporting government policies and initiatives targeted at economic development, job creation and improved living standards.
He stressed that sustained youth participation in governance would strengthen democracy and contribute to the state’s overall development.
The organisers described the solidarity trek as peaceful, orderly and issue-based, noting that its primary objective was to foster unity among party faithful, deepen political awareness and mobilise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event concluded without incident as participants dispersed peacefully after reiterating their commitment to supporting the APC and its leadership in future electoral contests.
