Yayi Fulfils Promise, Donates Brand-New 18-Seater Toyota HiAce Bus to Ogun NUJ

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has fulfilled his promise to support the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, with the donation of a brand-new 18-seater Toyota HiAce bus to the Union.

The donation came barely a few days after Adeola visited the NUJ secretariat, where he pledged to support the Union’s operations and strengthen its capacity to carry out its professional responsibilities.

Global Mirror News reports that the presentation of the vehicle underscores the APC Governorship candidate’s commitment to fulfilling the pledge he made during the familiarization visit to the Union’s secretariat.

The vehicle’s key was formally handed over to the NUJ on behalf of the Senator by his Personal Assistant, Otunba Niyi Sanusi, who said the gesture reflected Adeola’s determination to honour his promises and support important stakeholder groups across Ogun State.

Sanusi noted that the donation was part of the Senator’s commitment to supporting organisations whose activities contribute to the development of the State and the welfare of their members.

Receiving the bus on behalf of the council’s executive and the entire membership, the Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, expressed appreciation to Adeola for fulfilling his pledge within a short period after the visit.

Olanrewaju described the donation as a timely intervention that would significantly improve the Union’s transportation capacity and ease the logistical challenges associated with its administrative duties, official engagements and other professional activities.

He noted that access to a dedicated vehicle would assist the union in coordinating its programmes and attending to assignments requiring the movement of its officials and members across the State.

The NUJ chairman also assured the Governorship candidate of the Union’s continued goodwill, expressing appreciation for the gesture and the support extended to the Journalism community.

The donation comes amid growing engagements between political stakeholders and professional organisations in Ogun State as preparations gradually gather momentum towards the 2027 Governorship election.

For the NUJ, the provision of the bus represents practical support for its operational needs, particularly in facilitating official movements and strengthening the council’s ability to discharge its responsibilities.

However, the union’s appreciation of the donation also highlights the importance of sustained engagement between political office seekers and the media community on issues affecting press freedom, journalists’ welfare, professional development and the broader information needs of residents.

As a professional body representing Journalists in the state, the NUJ remains an important stakeholder in public communication, accountability and the dissemination of information to the people.

Global Mirror News reports that the donation fulfils the commitment made by Adeola during his recent visit to the union, with the new bus expected to provide additional transportation support for the Council’s activities.
