OGUN ASSEMBLY PASSES YEARS 2027-2029 MTEF PREPARATORY TO NEXT YEAR BUDGET

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for years 2027 to 2029 effective from 8th September, 2026.

The passage of the financial framework was consequent upon the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, who also moved for its adoption, seconded by Hon. Lukman Adeleye and was supported by all the State lawmakers.

The Speaker later presented the MTEF sector by sector before the State lawmakers, after which the Assembly Chief Whip, Omolola Bakare moved the motion for the approval of the financial framework, seconded by Hon. Adeleye and supported by the whole House, effective from 8th September, 2026.

He therefore directed the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin to forward the clean copies of the approval to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and other relevant agencies for the immediate preparation of the next year budget and other outer years.

Earlier in his presentation, Hon. Lamidi had pointed out that the MTEF had been referred to the House Committee on 28th August, 2026 for further legislative actions September.

The summary of the MTEF contained budget proposals of the sum of N2.086tr for the 2027 financial year, N2.294tr for 2028 and the sum of N2.524tr budget proposals for the 2028 fiscal year.
