Ogun: 29-year-old man arrested after missing 22-year-old woman found in his company

A 29-year-old man, identified as Salaudeen Toheeb, has been arrested in Ogun State after a 22-year-old woman, Boluwatife, who was reportedly being sought by her family, was found in his company around Olohunda, Ota.
The man is facing an allegation of sexual assault following claims that he allegedly forced himself on the woman after taking her to his residence.
The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was apprehended on Saturday, October 3, 2026, after security officials received information about the whereabouts of the woman.
The State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, disclosed the development in a statement issued by the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Sunday, October 4.
Global Mirror News gathered that the alarm was raised after the woman, who reportedly resides around Baba Oyinbo, Owode-Yewa, was found with Salaudeen in the Olohunda area.
According to the statement, information about the discovery reached the Divisional Officer of the Alagbon Division, SC Ibrahim Badru, at about 4pm on October 3.
The Divisional Officer reportedly informed the Area Commander of the Owode-Yewa Area Command, ACC Akeem Saka, who directed that both the alleged suspect and the woman be brought in for questioning.
Officers of the Corps subsequently proceeded to the location and arrested Salaudeen.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly gave investigators an account of how he met the woman.
He allegedly said he saw her roaming around the previous evening while riding his motorcycle and decided to approach her.
According to the preliminary account, the two engaged in a conversation during which the woman allegedly told him that she was distressed and did not know where to go.
The suspect reportedly said he subsequently took her to his residence and bought food for her.
However, according to the account released by the Corps, events allegedly took a disturbing turn after she had eaten.
Salaudeen was accused of attempting to have sexual intercourse with the woman despite her refusal and was further alleged to have forced himself on her in the early hours of the following day.
Global Mirror News reports that the allegation remains under investigation and has not been established against the suspect by a court.
The matter reportedly came to the attention of the woman’s family after the suspect and the woman later went out to charge his mobile phone.
Some people who recognised the woman reportedly contacted her father and informed him that she had been located.
The information subsequently led to the arrest of the suspect.
However, the woman’s father reportedly raised additional concerns about his daughter’s disappearance and requested that the case be transferred to the Owode-Yewa Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
He reportedly told the Divisional Officer that his daughter had left home with five mobile phones and approximately N17,000.
The father consequently requested that the circumstances surrounding the missing phones and money be investigated alongside the events that led to his daughter’s disappearance and subsequent discovery.
The case was eventually transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Owode-Yewa Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and appropriate action.
Global Mirror News understands that the police investigation will be expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s movement, the alleged sexual assault, her missing belongings and the relationship, if any, between her and the suspect.
The development has also highlighted the importance of promptly reporting missing-person cases, particularly where there are concerns about possible abuse or exploitation.
The So-Safe Corps urged members of the public to report cases involving missing persons, suspected abuse, sexual offences and other criminal activities to the appropriate security authorities without delay.
The State Commander reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
Meanwhile, Salaudeen remains a suspect at this stage and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in accordance with the law. The allegations against him are expected to be subjected to further investigation and due legal process.
