…NUJ, Govt Officials, APC New Media Aide Charge Platform on Truth, Balance, Consistency

A new digital media platform, Ogun 360, founded by Machado Dolapo, has been officially launched in Ogun State with a bold mission to tell the stories of the State, amplify local voices, promote businesses and connect residents with opportunities.

The platform was unveiled at the weekend at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, during an event attended by Media Practitioners, Government representatives and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the launch, the founder of Ogun 360, Machado Dolapo, said the platform was created to bring together the diverse stories, people, businesses, talents, opportunities, culture and development initiatives scattered across Ogun State.

Dolapo explained that Ogun 360 was not established merely as another social media platform but as a credible digital information hub designed to serve residents and others interested in the progress and development of the state.

According to him, the platform would tell the stories of Ogun people, amplify their voices, showcase opportunities, celebrate progress and strengthen the connection between communities and the information they need.

He added that young people would be able to discover opportunities through the platform, businesses would gain visibility, while communities would have a stronger avenue to tell their stories and draw attention to issues affecting them.

Dolapo said the management of Ogun 360 would remain committed to credibility, consistency, creativity and innovation, with the ambition of making the platform a dependable destination for information about Ogun State.

«“We want Ogun 360 to become a platform where a young person can discover an opportunity, where a business can gain visibility, where a community can have its story heard, where citizens can stay informed, and where the remarkable things happening across Ogun State can receive the attention they deserve,” he said.»

NUJ Secretary Charges Ogun 360 on Truth

Speaking on “Telling the Ogun Story: The Responsibility of the Media in Shaping Our State’s Narrative,” the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, charged Ogun 360 and other media organisations to make truth, accuracy, balance and credibility the foundation of their journalism.

Adigun said Ogun State had an extraordinary story covering industry, agriculture, education, innovation, culture and human development.

He noted that the state was home to major industrial investments, renowned educational institutions, historic communities and individuals whose contributions had extended beyond Ogun into the wider Nigerian and global space.

The NUJ Secretary stressed that Journalism went beyond simply reporting events, explaining that the media also had a responsibility to help society understand important issues, give voice to people who might otherwise remain unheard, document history, scrutinise policies, celebrate genuine achievements and expose wrongdoing.

He urged Ogun 360 to look beyond government activities and political developments by giving attention to entrepreneurs, farmers, students, traditional institutions, artists, athletes, professionals and other citizens contributing to the growth of the state.

«“The first responsibility of the media is truth. In our desire to promote Ogun State, we must never sacrifice accuracy for excitement. We must not become cheerleaders at the expense of journalism,” Adigun cautioned.»

Global Mirror News gathered that the NUJ official’s message reflected the growing expectation for digital media platforms to combine positive storytelling with professional ethics and public-interest journalism.

He encouraged the management to remain committed to responsible journalism while building Ogun 360 into a reliable source of information on the state’s people, opportunities and development.

Stakeholders Back Ogun 360

The stakeholders at the launch expressed optimism that Ogun 360 could become an influential platform for telling the Ogun story and projecting the state’s achievements, people, businesses, culture and opportunities to audiences within and outside Nigeria.

For Ogun State, which continues to attract attention for its industrial base, educational institutions, cultural heritage, entrepreneurial activities and growing population, the emergence of Ogun 360 adds another digital channel through which stories from its communities can reach a wider audience.

Global Mirror News reports that the new platform’s impact will ultimately depend on its ability to sustain the principles highlighted during its unveiling credibility, truth, balance, consistency, creativity and innovation.

As Ogun 360 begins its journey, its founder, Machado Dolapo, has set out an ambitious vision: to create a digital space where the story of Ogun is told not only through the activities of those in power, but also through the voices, dreams, businesses, talents and everyday experiences of the people who make the state what it is.
