Gov. Abiodun Hails IGP Disu Over Deployment of Police Aircraft to Boost Ogun Security
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, for the prompt deployment of an operational Police aircraft to strengthen security operations and enhance the fight against criminality across the State.
The deployment followed a request by Governor Abiodun for additional aerial support as part of measures to reinforce Ogun State’s security architecture and intensify ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality.
The Inspector-General of Police reportedly approved the request promptly, leading to the arrival of the aircraft and its crew in the state.
Receiving the aircraft and crew on behalf of the Ogun State Government, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, conveyed Governor Abiodun’s appreciation to the IGP for his swift response and continued commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.
Talabi said the deployment would provide security agencies with enhanced capabilities for aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response, particularly in areas considered vulnerable to criminal activities.
He noted that the additional operational support would complement existing security measures by enabling security personnel to monitor difficult-to-access locations, track suspected criminal movements and respond more efficiently to emerging security threats.
The SSG described the development as a further demonstration of the strong partnership between the Ogun State Government and security agencies operating in the state.
According to him, the collaboration has remained critical to the government’s efforts to maintain law and order, protect residents and secure critical infrastructure across Ogun.
Talabi further disclosed that the aircraft would support Operation Kó Sẹ́yẹ́, the joint security initiative established to intensify operations against kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements operating in forests, border communities and identified security flashpoints across the state.
The aerial component, he said, is expected to strengthen the operational effectiveness of security personnel by providing improved surveillance and intelligence support to ground forces.
The development comes as the Ogun State Government continues to prioritise security as a major component of its broader development agenda, recognising that a peaceful and secure environment is essential for economic activities, investment and the wellbeing of residents.
Governor Abiodun, through the state government, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing necessary logistical and operational support to security agencies to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
The Governor stressed that Ogun would continue to support initiatives capable of strengthening security, preserving peace and creating an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth and development.
The deployment of the police aircraft is therefore expected to add another layer to Ogun State’s security strategy, particularly in the surveillance of forests, border areas and other locations that may be exploited by criminal networks.
