Gov. Abiodun Congratulates Adeleke, Applauds Tinubu for Ensuring Free and Fair Osun Election
The Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 Governorship election.
Governor Abiodun described Adeleke’s re-election as a clear reflection of the choice of the people of Osun State, saying the outcome further underscored the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic system.
In a statement, Gov Abiodun commended the people of Osun State for maintaining peace and demonstrating political maturity before, during and after the election.
He urged political Actors, supporters and other stakeholders across the State to put aside partisan differences and prioritise peace, unity and the continued development of Osun State.
The Ogun Governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to democratic principles and for providing a level playing field for all political parties and candidates who contested the election.
According to Abiodun, the President’s commitment to allowing the electoral process to function without undue interference has strengthened public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy and reaffirmed the importance of the ballot in determining the choice of the people.
Global Mirror News reports that Abiodun also congratulated all the candidates who participated in the election, noting that their participation contributed to the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic process.
He urged the contestants and their supporters to accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship, while encouraging them to continue contributing positively to the development of Osun State regardless of political affiliation.
Abiodun wished Governor Adeleke a successful second term, expressing confidence that the Osun State governor would work with all relevant stakeholders to promote peace, good governance and sustainable development across the state.
As Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Abiodun further reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening democratic values, good governance, peaceful coexistence and regional cooperation for the overall benefit of the people of Southern Nigeria.
