34-Year-Old Man Caught After Allegedly Chasing Woman With Scissors in Ogun
A 34-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, for allegedly breaking into a residence and attempting to rape a woman at Onimalu Community, Ilogbo, Ogun State.
Global Mirror News gathered that the suspect allegedly broke into the residence of Mrs Omolara Oluwakemi at Onimalu Cooperative CDA, along Ilogbo Road, at about 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The suspect was reportedly able to gain access to the residence and allegedly removed household appliances belonging to the victim.
However, while carrying out the alleged burglary, the suspect reportedly used a pair of scissors to chase the woman in what was described as an attempt to rape her.
The victim, according to the report, managed to escape from the suspect and raised an alarm, attracting the attention of residents in the community.
Global Mirror News gathered that the incident came to the attention of security operatives after the Chairman of the Community Development Association, CDA, Mr Tajudeen Adedeji, alerted them that a woman was heard shouting for help within the Community.
Confirming the arrest, the Ogun State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, said the suspect was apprehended following the swift response of the operatives to the distress call.
Ganzallo disclosed this in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
According to the Commander, immediately the alert was received, SC Gafar Bakare mobilised his team to the scene of the incident.
The operatives, with the assistance of a security officer, reportedly arrested the suspect at the scene.
Ganzallo explained that the victim had managed to escape from the suspect before raising the alarm, which alerted members of the community and prompted the intervention of security personnel.
He further disclosed that a search conducted on the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a condom.
“Upon the receipt of the alert, SC Gafar Bakare mobilised his team to the scene of the incident and arrested the suspect with the support of a security officer,” the Commander said.
Following the arrest, the suspect, the victim and the complainant, the CDA Chairman, were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged burglary and attempted rape and determine the next steps in accordance with the law.
Ganzallo commended members of the Onimalu community and the Divisional Officer for their prompt response to the distress call and their assistance in preventing further harm to the victim.
He reiterated the commitment of the So-Safe Corps to protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
The Commander also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, criminal activities and emergencies to the appropriate security agencies.
He stressed the importance of timely intervention by residents and security personnel in preventing crimes from escalating, while urging members of the public to always allow the relevant authorities to handle suspected criminal cases in accordance with due process.
