16 Wards Feel the Impact as Lawal Wasiu Unveils Massive Development Projects Across Ado-Odo/Ota

The Administration of the Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, has unveiled a broad range of development projects executed across the Council’s 16 Wards, marking what the administration described as a significant push for grassroots infrastructure and improved welfare of residents.

The projects, covering the 2025 and 2026 fiscal periods, cut across roads, drainage, electricity, water supply, education, healthcare, agriculture, environmental improvement and the upgrading of public facilities.

Lawal disclosed this while speaking at the opening ceremony for the Commissioning of projects at the Local Government Secretariat in Ota, where he highlighted the various interventions undertaken by his administration since assuming office.

According to the Council Chairman, the projects were carefully distributed across Communities to address critical infrastructure deficits and respond to the immediate needs of residents.

Roads, Drainage and Flood Control Take Centre Stage

Lawal said road infrastructure and flood control remained major priorities of his administration, noting that rural roads had been graded with laterite across the 16 wards of the Local Government.

He disclosed that drainage and culvert projects were also executed at several locations, including the Odo-Salawa-Igbale-Akinbo-Okede Road, Oloja-Ekun Palace in Igbesa, Olosun-Itamaje and Matina/Plaza Road in Sango.

The Council, he added, constructed a box culvert at Ewupe/Ijaye in Ilogbo Ward, while palliative works were carried out along Olosun-Itamaje Road.

The Chairman explained that the interventions were designed to improve accessibility, facilitate the movement of people and goods, support commercial activities and address recurring drainage and flooding challenges in affected Communities.

15 Years Without Electricity: Relief Comes to Alapoti Communities

One of the major highlights of the administration’s interventions was in the electricity sector, particularly in Alapoti Ward.

Lawal revealed that some communities in the area had endured approximately 15 years without electricity, before his administration intervened.

He said the Council procured, installed and energised a 300KVA/33KV transformer at Inawole-Idosaba Village, while low-tension cables were also distributed.

Similarly, low-tension line distribution was provided for electrification at Idobarun, Ado-Odo.

The Chairman said the intervention had brought significant relief to residents and business operators who had been affected by the prolonged lack of electricity.
He noted that restoring electricity supply was expected not only to improve residents’ quality of life but also to stimulate commercial activities and create new opportunities for businesses within the communities.

Solar, Motorised Boreholes Boost Access to Water

Access to potable water also featured prominently in the administration’s development programme.

Lawal disclosed that solar-powered boreholes had been provided at Agbara Village, Medina in Agbara Ward and Igufin in Ado-Odo Ward 2.

He further explained that motorised boreholes equipped with generators were provided in 2025 at Akinde Village in Iju Ward, Idioke in Ketu Ward, Ewupe Road in Ota Ward 2 and Ado-Odo Ward 1.

The interventions, he said, were aimed at reducing the burden of water scarcity and providing residents with more reliable sources of water for domestic and community use.

Schools Get Furniture, Classroom Renovation

The education sector also received attention under the administration.

The Chairman said furniture was supplied to public primary schools in Igbesa and Ere wards, while classroom renovation was undertaken at Akasun Primary School and All Saints Primary School, Igbesa.

The projects, he explained, were intended to provide pupils and teachers with a safer and more conducive environment for learning and teaching.

The administration’s intervention in the education sector forms part of its broader efforts to support human capital development at the grassroots.

Agricultural Intervention: Poultry Facility Revamped

In the Agricultural sector, the Local Government poultry pen at Ado-Odo was renovated as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural activities.

Lawal said the council also procured battery cages and reared 1,000 day-old chicks at the facility.

According to him, the intervention underscores the importance of agriculture to food security, employment generation and economic development, while also demonstrating the council’s commitment to productive ventures.

Olota Commends Lawal Wasiu’s Administration

Speaking at the event, the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ekun 11, commended the administration for its development efforts across Ado-Odo/Ota.

The monarch noted that the Commissioned projects had contributed to the development of the Local Government and would have direct impact on residents across the various communities.

Oba Obalanlege also acknowledged the role of the Local Government legislative arm in facilitating the administration’s activities.

He expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Government for the speedy release of funds, noting that the financial support had given credence to the execution of the projects.

The monarch’s comments underscored the importance of cooperation among the Local Government executive, legislative arm and the state government in delivering meaningful and sustainable development to the people.

Salako Applauds Project Commissioning

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kazeem Salako, also praised the administration, describing the timing of the commissioning as appropriate.

Salako said the commissioning provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to see, assess and appreciate the projects delivered by the Local Government.

He noted that such occasions also allowed the people to evaluate the impact of government programmes and infrastructure on their communities.

Ogun Commissioner Commends Prudent Use of Public Funds

Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, commended the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government administration for what he described as the judicious utilisation of available funds.

Hamzat stressed the importance of prudent management of public resources, noting that the projects commissioned demonstrated that government funds could be transformed into tangible development when properly utilised.

He encouraged the council to sustain the momentum and continue to direct resources towards projects that have direct and measurable impact on the welfare of residents.

Development Drive Continues

The Commissioning of the projects marks another chapter in the administration’s stated commitment to grassroots development across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.

From roads and drainage to electricity, water, education and agriculture, the administration said its interventions were targeted at addressing some of the most pressing needs confronting residents across the council’s 16 wards.

Global Mirror News gathered that the projects represent a broad-based infrastructure intervention aimed at taking development beyond the Local Government headquarters and extending government presence to communities across Ado-Odo/Ota.

With the commissioning of the projects, attention is now expected to focus on the sustainability of the infrastructure, proper maintenance and the delivery of additional interventions capable of meeting the growing needs of the rapidly developing Local Government.
